Pepper prices today April 2: Domestic prices were against the world while still debating about the output of new pepper

In Dak Lak and Dak Nong provinces, today pepper prices were purchased at 73,000 VND / kg (3.16$/kg) down 500 VND / kg (2,2 cent/kg).

In Gia Lai province, today's pepper prices were at 72,000 VND / kg (3.12$/MT), down 500 VND / kg  (2,2 cent/kg).

Meanwhile in Dong Nai, pepper prices today stood at 71,500 VND / kg (3.10$/kg).

In Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, pepper prices today were at 75,000 VND / kg (3.25$/kg).

In Binh Phuoc province today pepper prices were purchased at 74,000 VND / kg (3.21$/kg). Thus, at the beginning of this morning, pepper prices decreased by 500 VND / kg (2,2 cent/kg) in the Central Highlands. The Southeast continues to go sideways.

On the world market, at the end of the most recent session, the spot price of pepper at Kochi - India increased by 663.65 rupees/quintal, at 39,300 rupees/quintal. The cross rate of VND against the Indian Rupe (INR) from 1 April 2021 to 7 April 2021 applied by the State Bank to calculate import and export duties is 316.65. VND / INR.

The domestic harvest is nearing its end, but predictions for this year's pepper production are still mixed. Although after 2 surveys, the Vietnam Pepper Association (VPA) forecasts that pepper production in 2021 may decrease by 25-30%. However, some Association members or even leaders of this association still have the opinion that the two surveys are not "thorough".

The optimists in this association said that the survey focused too much on dead zones, even dead gardens many years ago, and only surveyed at the area close to the road. How the pepper kills die or how people change to other crops in the rest areas, the VPA has not yet fully understood. Therefore, agree with the new crop decreasing, but they think that it is not even 30%. In addition, the current inventory in 2019 is still quite large, in addition, the problems of high freight rates, delay of delivery, and receipt of goods, so they speculate that the price decrease in the short term is entirely possible.

In the opposite direction, Mr. Hoang Phuoc Binh - Permanent Vice Chairman of the Chu Se Pepper Association (Gia Lai province) said that by 2021, the output will decrease by 30-40% to 150,000 tons due to the neglect of the pepper garden.

In addition, the hot and dry weather of the April 2 of last lunar year resulted in no fruit trees, leading to a sharp decline in output this year. This position coincides with the actual reflection of the people. By monitoring in localities and in groups, most reported a decrease in yields, very few responded that they remained the same as last year, other than growers invested in planting according to organic standards.

Meanwhile, Mr. Nguyen Nam Hai - VPA Chairman said, the forecast must be based on data based on the area of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to be accurate. If based on the survey it is not standard. If hiring an independent surveying unit, the cost is high, the Association cannot meet it.
