At the end of July, the weather gradually becomes drier, it is time for farmers to harvest star anise- a polarizing spice. This spice not only has its strong licorice flavor, but it also has potential effects on human health.

There are 2 main crops: spring (March-April) and autumn (September-October). The spring crop begins in February (i.e., January of the lunar calendar).

The Spring crop Star anise is not better than Autumn crop because in the Autumn, the shape of stars is bigger than one in the Spring. At this moment, the quantity of star anise is harvested quickly by farmers.

Star anise contains a high level of antioxidants, such as linalool, quercetin, thymol, terpineol, caffeic acid, anethole, kaempferol, and coumaric acid, as well as a significant amount of iron. The most notable health benefits of star anise may include its probable ability to lower the risk of cancer, promote healthy skin, prevent fungal infections, support respiratory health, stimulate the immune system, optimize digestion, boost circulation, and aid sleep. Therefore, nowadays, star anise is widely consumed all over the world, especially in South Asian countries, East Asian countries, Middle East countries, USA,.... In Covid-19 pandemic, Star Anise export in Vietnam still developed. In 2021, star anise price in Lang Son Province rise up to 20-25% compared to 2021
